Process
The process for Gesha Oasis begins by depulping the coffee cherries and draining the beans, followed by an anaerobic fermentation in GrainPro bags for 36 hours. This oxygen-free fermentation environment encourages the development of deeper and more intricate flavors.
For the drying phase, the beans are carefully sun-dried on raised canopies for 20 days, a method that ensures slow and even drying to lock in the coffee’s vibrant flavor profile. Once the drying process is complete, the coffee undergoes stabilization in GrainPro bags for 30 days.
This crucial step allows the flavors to mature and balance, resulting in a harmonious and well-rounded cup. The final flavor profile of Gesha Oasis offers an exquisite combination of floral notes, blueberry, citric acid, grape, tangerine, orange, mango, and honey, reflecting the unique characteristics of the Gesha variety and its meticulous washed process.
Location
Located in the highlands, Buenavista sits at 1,850 meters and is celebrated for its unique and diverse microclimates. This breathtaking location gives rise to some of the worlds most unique and flavorful coffee!
The Buena vista farm has an area of 13.5 hectors dedicated to coffee, with the rest ear marked as a natural reserve. Protecting birds like the iconic Andean Cock-of-the-rock and mammals such as the elusive Ocelot.
Elias and Shady emphasise the balance between variety and terroir, preserving each while allowing the coffee to express its own personality and vibrance. Their Gesha and carbonic maceration techniques achieve exactly that, delivering intense floral aromatics, complex fruit notes and fine acidity, complemented by a distinct sugary sweetness and long, lingering finish that reflects the region.
Story
Entering the world of coffee at 14, with her father, coffee has become her life’s project. In 2015 she gained international prominence by winning the Colombian Cup of Excellence award.
Since purchasing the farm in 2006 Raul and Astrid have worked tirelessly to plant over 60,000 coffee trees turning Buenavista into a thriving family business with their kids and grandchildren.
